Fighting the humanitarian crisis on Lake Chad

capcelera_oxfam_eng

Because of the heavy rains that occurred in Colombia and Perú, Nicequest launched an emergency campaign to foster the collaboration of all their users to help all the victims of the tragedy. After reaching the 100% of the total collected, Plan Internacional will be able to distribute 315 emergency kits to children affected because of the floods. You can remember the project HERE. Thank you all to make it possible!

After this campaign, now the focus is on Lake Chad, where the conflict that began more than seven years ago between Boko Haram and the military attempting to combat it has destroyed entire villages, roads, water sources, health centres and schools. Families have been unable to farm or buy food because of the soaring prices and today 6.3 million people are running out of food and nearly half a million children under the age of five are malnourished.

Organizations like Oxfam Intermon collaborate in order to prevent malnutrition and the spread of disease, the new dangers faced by displaced families.

Now, the users of Nicequest will collaborate with them in the distribution of hygienic kits and water to 300 families.

Social commitment – Why is it also important in employer branding?

We live in an increasingly globalised, and at the same time, competitive world. In the world of business, it is not enough to simply just seduce the client; you must bear in mind everyone who has an interest in the business to achieve the best results. The team, of course, is one of the most important parts of the public, and the capacity to attract talent to the company and retain it depends greatly on the success of the business.

In this context, the businesses’ social commitment and its policy towards sustainability (of the business itself and the planet) becomes fundamental in every relationship it establishes with its public, amongst them, the staff.

Why do we say then that the company’s social responsibility is of prime importance in its employer branding strategy? We will tell you now:

low1

1. In a globalised world, the flow of information is constant. We in live in a society that is extremely connected in which information spreads at an extremely fast rate and which news arrives instantly to a very large audience. In this situation, it is society itself, more informed than ever before, who demands that companies have a bigger commitment and who prefer, when searching for work, those businesses which show a greater social awareness and responsibility.

2. In a globalised world, the personal image is more important than ever. We are increasingly more aware of the importance of our own professional image and it is this awareness, which makes us become more demanding of the companies we work in. We know that our image is closely linked with our job and the company that we work for.

3. In a globalised world, companies compete with other companies from around the world. Location is not an obstacle for a talented employer who is willing to work in any business in the world and from any part of the world. Competition is high and companies have to be on top of their game if they want to attract talent.

4. In a globalised world, we are more and more aware of social problems. The aforementioned constant flow of information makes us more aware of the problems we have to face as a society, and therefore, makes us more responsible for finding the solution. We want to be part of the solution, and above all, we do not want to be a part of the problem.

100 more Giggle Doctors visits in Spanish hospitals

#NewProject

Once again, our favourite Giggle Doctors will share happiness among Spanish hospitals thanks, in part, to Worldcoo community.

In this occasion, we will do it in collaboration with the users of Zacaris, the main ecommerce in Spain where people can buy all kind of shoes.

logo_theodora_foundationThanks to their collaboration, Giggle Doctors will be able to visit 100 kids in different hospitals in Spain, which will allow them to brighten the atmosphere of paediatrics plants and change the room’s atmosphere. These visits represent a moment of disconnection from the daily routine and are a good distraction that helps to alleviate anxiety, not just for the kids, also for families.

This initiative, promoted by Theodora Foundation, try to address the emotional care of hospitalized children, ease the anxiety in the child and raise awareness about the importance of humanization in hospitals.

This is not the first time that the users of Zacaris show their solidarity and social commitment. In their last campaign, recently founded, they’ve achieved that 150 people in Cameron have the chance to prevent and detect diseases such as uterus cancer, one of the main mortality causes among woman in Africa.  You can remember the project HERE.

6 key points to convey CSR

In an increasingly more competitive environment and with people being increasingly more educated and informed, doing this well is essential to being successful in business and letting people know that you are doing it well is key to get to where you want to be.

Corporate Social Responsibility makes the business’ footprint on the environment and society that surrounds it as positive as possible. Communication makes it so that the footprint is known and recognised throughout the people associated with the business.

So take note of the 6 key points we have made for you to convey CSR:

  1. Back up what you say with actions. Surely, you will have heard something along the words of ‘let your actions speak for you’, well this point goes slightly in that direction. It isn’t just the actions that speak for you, you must speak for yourself but your actions (those of the business) have to support what you say to make what you say credible.
  1. Comprehensive and strategic communication. CSR isn’t a minor part of the business’ management, neither must its communication represent a minor part of the corporate communication. Include the communicative actions linked to CSR in your comprehensive communication strategy; make sure it is coherent with what you want to transmit in every communication action.
  1. Be transparent and personal with your public. If credibility is essential in all processes involving communication, when we talk about CSR, its importance is paramount. Make your public believe what you tell them, earn their trust! Be transparent, show your day-to-day, show them the impact that CSR has on your day-to-day activities.
  1. Communicate via different channels. Increasing your communication channels and varying them is nothing new. Take advantage of all the possibilities that you have in front of you. Don’t limit yourself to just using one channel, try to value which ones can contribute to your business more and exploit them!
  1. Communicate your results. Everything the company does to seek results, especially in the case of CSR, has to do with the impact on its surroundings: don’t be shy, show the world what you have achieved in the last month, quarter, and year! Let the results speak for themselves!
  1. Be brave in what you communicate, take on challenges! Take on social challenges, show the public that your commitment is real and … don’t be scared! Show the human side of your business, involve as many of your clients as possible and don’t worry about not achieving what you propose, your clients will value your participation!

#NewProject

During this school year, 30 kids will receive school support to improve their education  thanks to Planeta Huerto users, who have been contributing to break poverty cycle. Just like a reminder, today 1 every 4 kids live situations of vulnerability, because many families struggle to meet their basic needs. They will do it through a program leaded by La Obra Social “la Caixa”. Thank you so much to make it happen!

They start a new social project today, which is promote the access to water in Agraharam village, who is located in the second most arid state in India after Rajasthan, with an annual average rainfall of 940mm. These weather conditions affect agriculture, the livelihood of nearly 80% of the population.

vicente_ferrer_logoThis situation is what led to Vicente Ferrer Foundation to develop an Ecological Development Plan to save, multiply and share the natural, agricultural and livestock resources of the area.

Thanks to the contribution of the users of Planeta Huerto, the organisation will be able to build a dam to benefit 1.068 members of the 203 farming families who live in the village, from the positive impact of the construction of the dam.
