Today is #Giving Tuesday!

capcelera_giving

Today is #GivingTuesday, a day dedicated to donate, share and help. As you know, it is a movement that was born as an alternative to Black Friday or CyberMonday, days that promote the purchase of gifts before Christmas. Although all the  “Companies with a cause” who collaborate with us, encourage the good actions all year, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to claim, once again, the need to be aware and value the small contributions we do in our daily live, whether they are material or not.

#GT Heart (1)Planeta HuertoDecántaloSprinterSanta FixiePromofarma… many of the companies that collaborate with us have joined this celebration. The last one has been Ticketmaster. We really want to communicate this last agreement. We are so happy to see that every time there are more companies who offer their customers the opportunity to collaborate with many different social causes. Now, when we buy a ticket for any leisure event, we will have the option to add an euro for a concrete socal cause. Each month, a different one.

descargaOf course, all the employees of Worldcoo have also joined this movement that represents us so much; that is why this Friday the 1st we will collaborate with Obra Social San Juan de Dios in the rehabilitation of a flat for Young immigrants.

Last year, during  GivingTuesday more than €500.000 were collected; for this 2017, the goal is to exceed €700.000.

TicketMaster joins Worldcoo community!

WELCOME!

logo_worldcoo_ticketWe are super proud to see that every time there are more companies who offer their users the possibility to collaborate with social projects around the world. In this occasion, it does it one of the biggest: TicketMaster, the world’s leading ticket sales company and first in the sector in Spain.

This means that from now on, when we buy a ticket for going to the theatre, to a concert or to a soccer stadium, for example, we will have the option to add one euro for a concret social cause, like poverty eradication, scientific research or social inclusion.

Each month, TicketMaster will collaborate with a specific NGO, such as “Theodora Foundation, “Unicef” or “Oxfam Intrmon”.

Its first challenge: facilitate the access to drinking water.

The conflict in Lake Chad, caused by the expansión of the Boko Harem group and the military response, implies immense and unknown suffering for millions of people in one of the poorest regions of the world.

In total, more than 11 million people need urgent help. Of these, 7 are at risk of hunger, 450,000 are children.

Insecurity prevents people from accessing basic social services and has destroyed infrastructure. That’s why the work of organizations like Oxfam Intermón is increasingly important. The entity works in the area to deal with this situation, ensuring access to food and drinking water for the displaced population in the area’s basin: Chad, Niger and Nigeria.

On this occasion, Ticketmaster customers will have the opportunity to collaborate with them to rehabilitate and build wells that ensure the distribution of drinking water to people who have fled their homes and communities.

In December they will collaborate with “Theodora Foundation” and throughout 2018, with many other NGO such as “Vicente Ferrer Foundation“, “Uno Entre Cien Mil” or “Unicef“, among others.

Emergency campaign for Mexico

Telefonica Group, Banco Sabadell and PcComponentes have started emergency campaigns to assist victims in México

NotimexOne week ago, a 7.1-magnitude earthquake shook central Mexico causing great devastation. The catastrophe left more than 300 dead and thousands of victims. Dozens of buildings have been demolished in Mexico City, but also in the states of Mexico, Puebla and Morelos and 400 schools have been damaged.

In front of this situation, one of the groups that are particularly affected are children, who now have to face other threats, such as being separated from their family in the middle of the chaos.

The first hours after a catastrophe such as the one experienced, are crucial to finding survivors, housing the victims in shelters where they can rest safe, receive water and food and restore the general situation.

The signs of solidarity to alleviate the situation have been constant around the world. Among them, those of our companies with cause, who have launched emergency campaigns to maximize efforts and invite all their customers and employees to make a small contribution.

AF_Logotipo_Fundacion_POS_RGB_esTelefonica Group, for example, invites society to make their donation though their corporate page. All the funds collected will be very useful to make hundreds of kids can go back to school and reconstruct their classrooms with the help of Telefonica Foundation and all their volunteers. So far, they have already raised more than €25.000!

pcAnother case is the campaign launched by PcComponentes. They invite all their customers to add €1 to its purchase to collaborate with UNICEF in the distribution of drinking water to 450 children for half a year.

banco-sabadell-logoBanco Sabadell employees also wanted to join the cause and support Unicef to take care of the needs of children affected in terms of water, sanitation, nutrition, health, education and protection. Through its social platform, clients, employees and non-clients are making their donations.

In front of this situation, we have started a new fundraising campaign with Telefonica Foundation. The objective is to raise the necessary funds so that the company employees can move to the regions affected by the catastrophe – Hualqui, San Nicolás y Portezuela- and participate in different projects of solidarity and reconstruction of the devastated areas once the emergency has been overcome and the hard reality of zero zone appears. They will do it through Telefonica Corporate Volunteering Program.

If you want to make your own donation, you can do it through the online platform that we have prepared telefonica.worldcoo.com.

So far, we have raised more than €3.500!

The last straight line

The project Let’s have one more, which consist in getting funds to pay for a scholarship to form an ambassador of peace is about to reach the objective.

As you can see, it passed 80% of the final goal and less than 1000€ still need to be collected. More than 130 donators from more than 15 countries arround the world have already been committed with the project.

If we divide the money collected by the number of donors and then, divide the money we need by the average donation, it means that around 25 donors are missing yet to end the collect.

With all we did until today, we can easily say that we passed the hardest part. But the final straight line is still in front of us!

The vision of humanitarian sector with Dan Pallotta

Last week, we published on our Facebook a video from the TED conference about The way we think about charity is dead wrong! Whether or not you’ve seen the video, here is a little summarize to tell you what’s the message:

Activist and fundraiser, Dan Pallotta denounced the double standard that drives our broken relationship with charity organizations. According to him, too many nonprofit organizations are valued when they spend a little, and not for what they achieve. That’s a pity, a charity group shouldn’t be watched like an embezzlement each time they spend money indirectly for charity causes (mainly the advertisment). The reason is that there is a double standard between nonprofit and for-profit sector.

Instead of assimilating the frugality of morality, he asks us to begin to develop the charities for their great goals and great achievement, even if it comes with great expenses. As exemple, 350,000$ has been invested for the campain of Breast cancer, and they multiplied this investment by more than 551 times to reach the incredible amount of 194,000,000$ raised!

To summarize the main message of Dan Pallotta, nothing better that the sentence he said: “Changing the way we think to change the world.”

What do you think about that? Let us your opinion by leaving a comment!

Almost halfway

45% released in fifteen days! You’re doing a great work. It’s a pleasure to see so many people committed in the same cause. You are 79 to have make a donation.

Little recall : The project consist in provide a scholarship to a student from an impoverished country. The scholarship include a Master of Peace at the Universitat Jaume I in Castellon. The final objective is to train an ambassador of peace. In this way, the student will be capable to spread peaceful means when he will be back in his originary country.

Remember that one of the most important reason why impoverished countries are in low developement is because there are many problems with peace. A political regime disturbed cannot match with an economic development. So the main way to help those countries is to teach them how to ease tensions.

You already did mountains! But half of the project still needs your help!
Continue to spread the word at home, at work, with your family, your friends, and all the people you meet.

The power of crowdfunding in the service of humanity

In today’s world, with globalization, we are all affected by the troubles which afflict some parts of the globe whose level of development is extremely low. Indeed, some people don’t have the technology and tools that some countries benefit for decades.

In an effort to give these regions the opportunity to live and not to survive, NGOs began to emerge after the Second World War.

Today, it is the eighth largest economy in the world (1 billion dollars per year). And it continues to grow with globalization. Despite this, NGOs are funded by donations. And apart from the generous donors with astronomical fortunes (CEO, movie star, sport star, etc..), The general public doesn’t have a very important place.

But that will change! Since the advent of the Internet, a new method of financing has emerged: the crowdfunding. The concept is simple, a project is presented on a crowdfunding platform and users can finance it in the variable tiers (sometimes undetermined). The objective is to target small donors. This concept has been proven, for example when the campaign Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election. He then gleaned nearly 700 million dollars.

So what link can be made between the funding and the fight against poverty in the world? Just the fact that crowdfunding is now an intermediary between NGOs and individuals. With Worldcoo, humanitarian projects governed by NGOs are presented to the public to finance from only 5€. Everyone can now give and help impoverished countries to live in a better world.

What is more beautiful at the end of your life to tell you that you leave the world in better shape than you’ve found it?

Help your world, make your contribution by registering on Worldcoo and supporting one or more projects!

Love and appreciate, the Worldcoo team.
