AREAS joins our Charity Rounding Up!

Imagen1Areas, one of the main world leaders of Food & Beverage and Travel Retail, has launched our Charity Rounding Up in their establishments “Divers”, “COMO”, “La Taberna” and “Mercat de l’Estació”, in Barcelona-Sants train station. Through this initiative, everyone who pay with card can make a micro donationand collaborate with a social project in a simple and transparent way.

The project:  labor insertion for people with mental disorder and social exclusion
LogoThe objective of this campaign is to collaborate with the Cassià Just Foundation to promote labor insertion of people with mental disorders and social exclusion. The challenge is to raise the necessary funds to train 20 people and being able to create new jobs for each one ofjob them.

This is the first social project that AREAS will be supporting through the Charity Rounding Up.

Today is the World Cancer Day

In Spain, more than 270,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed every year. More than 26,000 of these new diagnoses are people at risk of social exclusion. In fact, nearly 10,000 of them are unemployed and more than a half don’t receive any help. 

Coinciding with the World Cancer Day, which is celebrated today February 4, many of the companies who collaborate with us, have started different fundraising campaigns to help people with cancer in vulnerable situations. 

logo kalidaBonpreu i Esclat Supermarkets, one of the first companies who started to offer the Charity Rounding Up, will raise, during all February, in favour of Kàlida Foundation. The objective is to improve the well-being of people with cancer.

logo cancer eroskiThrough the “Charity Cents” program, Eroski clients are collaborating to fight against childhood cancer and their families. In Spain, every year, 1,500 new cases of cancer are diagnosed in people under 18 years. With the total amount expeted to raise, it is expected to help 7,047 boys and girls through the Federación Española de padres de niños/as con cáncer (FEPNC), AMARA Cantabria y ASPANAFOA (Asociación de padres y madres de niños/as con cáncer de Álava).

logo_bcn_fons_negreOn the other hand,Caprabo is collaborating in favour of AFANOC to help children with cancer and their families so that they can have comprehensive psychosocial care.

aeccIn the online environment, Ticketmaster, as well as  Promofarma, are starting a new fundraising campaign to help the AECC (Spanish Association Against Cancer) to cover the basic needs of cancer patients in vulnerable situations. With € 5,000 raised, they will be able to help cover the basic necessities derived from the household bills of 25 families in a situation of economic vulnerability due to a cancer diagnosis. ntegral.

EROSKI launches “Charity Cents” program!

logo_eroskiEROSKI, one of the most important supermarket chain in Spain, launches today the “Charity Cents” program, an initiative to support social causes permanently.

Thanks of this, all its customers, from more than 1,100 centers, can make, from now on, a small donation to a social cause each time they use their card as a payment method.

How to collaborate?

1- Press the green button when the dataphone ask you if you want to collaborate.

2- The cents to donate will be fixed:

  • For purchases from €5 to €30: €0,10
  • For purchases over €30: €0,20

3- Donations will be reflected on the purchase ticket.  All the people who have donated can request their donation certificate using the code that will appear on their ticket.

 

In which cause can I collaborate?

The projects in which customers can collaborate will change periodically. These are social causes that have been chosen by more than 3,500 EROSKI customers. All of them will receive the full amount of the donations directly.

logo fesbalThe first of them is the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL) and has the objective of helping families in a situation of vulnerability due to Covid19. The Covid19 crisis has increased the number of vulnerable people who have difficulties meeting their basic food needs. The Food Banks are carrying out essential work to guarantee the right to food of families and other groups at risk of social exclusion.

Micro donations to fight against COVID-19

We are living an unprecedented situation. Today, there are more than 700,000 cases of people infected by COVID-19, 37,000 people have dead and 187 countries are affected.

There are many organizations that are working on finding, as soon as possible, new treatments that help to stop the disease. Others, are focusing on providing support to mitigate the effects of the pandemic among the most vulnerable groups.

Over the last days, our partners have launched different emergency campaigns to raise funds for all these NGOs.  Banco Sabadell, bonÀrea, Bonpreu i Esclat, Correos, Glovo,  Iberdrola, Nicequest, PromoFarma, Sprinter, Ticketmaster… all of them have launched diferent fundraising campaigns to help Aldeas Infantiles SOS, Cruz Roja, Fundació Clínic per la Recerca Biomédica, IsGlobal, IrsiCaixa, Save The Children or UNICEF.

Together, we have already raised more than 191,000 donations!
