Telefonica Group, Banco Sabadell and PcComponentes have started emergency campaigns to assist victims in México
One week ago, a 7.1-magnitude earthquake shook central Mexico causing great devastation. The catastrophe left more than 300 dead and thousands of victims. Dozens of buildings have been demolished in Mexico City, but also in the states of Mexico, Puebla and Morelos and 400 schools have been damaged.
In front of this situation, one of the groups that are particularly affected are children, who now have to face other threats, such as being separated from their family in the middle of the chaos.
The first hours after a catastrophe such as the one experienced, are crucial to finding survivors, housing the victims in shelters where they can rest safe, receive water and food and restore the general situation.
The signs of solidarity to alleviate the situation have been constant around the world. Among them, those of our companies with cause, who have launched emergency campaigns to maximize efforts and invite all their customers and employees to make a small contribution.
Telefonica Group, for example, invites society to make their donation though their corporate page. All the funds collected will be very useful to make hundreds of kids can go back to school and reconstruct their classrooms with the help of Telefonica Foundation and all their volunteers. So far, they have already raised more than €25.000!
Another case is the campaign launched by PcComponentes. They invite all their customers to add €1 to its purchase to collaborate with UNICEF in the distribution of drinking water to 450 children for half a year.
Banco Sabadell employees also wanted to join the cause and support Unicef to take care of the needs of children affected in terms of water, sanitation, nutrition, health, education and protection. Through its social platform, clients, employees and non-clients are making their donations.
