NewProject & #NewSponsor: improve the quality of life of youth from Nairobi with Cycloville

Cycloville (Cycling Village), is a network of cyclists and bicycle shops in Nairobi. Cycloville works to make grew the bicycle industry and be able to create employment in the poorest zones in Nairobi through 10 bicycle shops that works together to generate employment opportunities for youth with less resources living in Nairobi slums.

Cycloville allows youth from Nairobi to have access to a learning and to job in one of its shops. In addition, Cycloville also give to the youth an access to a business training in order to they can develop, in a future, their own bicycle company.

Bikes not bombs is an entity that uses bicycles as a vehicle for social change. Every year, Bikes not Bombs gather approximately 6.000 bicycles used by people living in Boston or New England. Most bicycles are sent abroad to develop projects of economic development.

Bikes not bombs work together with Cycloville in order to be carried out the following activities:

  • Train 25 youth per year as mechanics and support them to gain employment in bike shops throughout Nairobi.
  • Ship over 1000 used bikes per year.
  • Connect with new suppliers to stabilize the market and support the growth of the bike industry.

The first online shop Fixie Bikes and accessories for urban cycling in Europe, Santafixie, has joined with Worldcoo to help in the funding of social and sustainable development projects.

From now, the more than 30.000 customers from 30 different countries that have trusted in Santafixie, will be able to make a donation in each purchase they make. This donation will add to the fundraising to be able to fund social and sustainable development projects. The first project in which Santafixie customers will be able to collaborate have the aim to create employment for youth living in the slums in Nairobi.

Thanks to the solidarity of Santafixie customers, 25 youth from the slums will be trained as mechanics and employed in Cycloville’s network of Bike Shops. Also, the entire cycling community and everyone they serve will be benefit indirectly. This includes everyone from shop owners to racers to bike dependent commuters.

#NewSponsor & #NewProject: Education for Cambodian Children

eShop Ventures, a company holding specialized in e-commerce in the flash sales format, has implemented in all of their websites, which will offer users the possibility to add 1 euro in their purchases in order to help to fund cooperation social projects and sustainable development projects. Periodically, different projects will be activated and the eShop Ventures customers will be able to make micro donations during check out that would be added to their invoice.

The different websites that are a part of eShop Ventures group are: Mimub.com (decoration), Mamuky.com (children’s), Molet.com (womenswear), Matby.com (menswear), Expirit.es (gastronomy), El Armario de la Tele.com (male and female fashion) y Nonabox (baby’s and mother’s).

Nowadays, eShop Ventures has over 2,3 million users that will be able to help fund the project: “Education for Cambodian Children” of S.A.U.C.E NGO.

Cambodia is ranked 138 in the Human Development Index. After the “Khmer Rouge” period in 70’s, Cambodia stayed in a very precarious situation, with their basic services and their infrastructures dismantled. As a consequence, their population was in poverty.

Each day in Cambodia the children fight with problems like a malnutrition, abuse, exploitation, landmines or difficulties with lack of access to schools, especially in rural areas.

Education for Cambodian Children

In order for Cambodia to move forward, education is a key element. To solve that, the school “Karuna Computer Centre” has created a project that is aimed to train 90 young Cambodians with some physical disability and train girls that comes from rural areas to have access to education.

Thanks to the solidarity of eShop Ventures customers, each year 3 groups of 30 children will receive 120 hours of language classes and tutoring per month using computer software.

With this project, it will be possible to strengthen the education provided in Cambodia schools and it may equip young people with the necessary skills and knowledge.

Ulabox has added to their site the solidary widget that offer to their users the possibility to add 1€ to their purchase to help fund the project chosen by them. The money raised is going to give to the social projects promoted for Obra Social “la Caixa”.

#NingúnNiñoSinBigote has the aim to ensure that the children in need can drink enough milk to cover their aid needs and all of them will have a good feeding.

Nowadays, thousands of families have limited access to milk. In Spain, more than 300.000 children can’t meet their needs of milk, and it especially affects their mental and physical development because they don’t consume sufficient calcium, vitamins, protein and phosphorus.

Obra Social “la Caixa” collaborates with Banco de Alimentos to gather a great quantity of milk and then will donate entirely to help families in need and ensure the good children growth.

Ulabox is the first 100% online supermarket, and now their users will be able to donate 1€ in every purchase for this project. With their help, Banco de Alimentos will distribute milk to 120 children who are at risk of exclusion and their families.

Obra Social “la Caixa” support different programs and initiatives with the aim to help persons and build a society with more opportunities. For these reason, “la Caixa” will donate an extra milk liter every 10 liters collected up to 100.000 liters of milk.

This December PcComponentes joins the list of socially responsible e-commerce’s with the commitment to generate more positive social impact together and to tackle poverty during Christmas.

Worldcoo launches together with the new sponsor the project “No child without a meal at Christmas” from Aldeasinfantiles.es to ensure a healthy and balanced meal to those children that live in a vulnerable situation.

Through the solidarity of PcComponentes.com users the feeding of 186 minors will be covered and 6 school lunchrooms will be provided to ensure a healthy and balanced meal for these children during the school year.

With 9.400€, is Worldcoo’s most ambitious project up to date.
