Break the circle of child poverty continue being a pending subject in Spain. As we said in various articles of our blog, the 35% of Spanish children are living at risk of poverty. The result of the last report presented by AROPE (At Risk Of Poverty or Exclusion) shows that almost 3 million of Spanish children are living at risk of poverty and more than 800.000 children are chronic poor.

The program CaixaProinfancia of Obra Social “la Caixa” has de aim to break the circle of hereditary poverty acting on the needs of children and teenagers between 0 and 18 years who are living in a poverty or social vulnerability situation.

Obra Social “la Caixa” allocate 50 million euros annually to guarantee continued long-term care of more than 238.000 children since 2007. It can do it thanks to the collaboration of more than 30 social organizations from 11 of the main Spanish cities.

Planeta Huerto will help to combat children poverty

Planeta Huerto will collaborate with Obra Social “la Caixa” in order to help break the cycle of poverty by teaching those vulnerable children. For do that, children will learn how to use the tools of education to take control of their own lives.

From today, the customers of Planeta Huerto will have the possibility to make a donation in each purchase they make. With this project, Obra Social “la Caixa” wants to provide support to childhood and the families through the promotion of social and educational development of children at poverty situation from a perspective of comprehensive care by educational support and family workshops.

Thanks to Planeta Huerto and its customers, 30 children will receive a weekly school support for a month in order to improve their education and break their circle of poverty.

Guaranteed vaccines for children in Mozambique

Every day, 18.000 children under 5 die prematurely because of diseases which could be prevented or treated with vaccines but, unfortunately, in development countries haven’t access to adequate vaccines.

Vaccination is one of the best ways to guarantee to children a healthy life since the beginning because with vaccines many diseases can be prevented. Vaccines are a key tool for the communities’ development and are the most-effective way to save lives.

Obra Social “la Caixa” and Gavi have been teamed up with the aim to help fund the necessary vaccines to protect children living in the poorest countries. Thanks to Vaccine Alliance, until the end of 2014, they have been able to immunize 500 million children averting millions of premature deaths.

The first cause of death in Mozambique is pneumonia. Thanks to customers, partners, employers and companies who collaborated with the alliance between Obra Social “la Caixa” and Gavi, more than 300.000 children from Mozambique were vaccinated.


6 months ago, Promofarma began to collaborate with Obra Social “la Caixa” and Gavi and offered to its customers the possibility to make a donation to guarantee the use of vaccines in Mozambique. Today we are glad to announce that thanks to the solidarity of Promofarma customers we have funded a new project.

With 4.574€, vaccines will be introduced in Mozambique in order to facilitate its access to the population. In addition, the markets will be able adapted for vaccines and other immunization-related products. With the help of Promofarma customers and, thanks to the fact that Obra Social “la Caixa” will quadruplicate each euro donated, 2.287 children from Mozambique will have access to adequate vaccines to guarantee them a healthy life.

Dreivip customers say NO to child poverty

In Spain, the 30.5% of children live at risk of poverty and social exclusion. In addition, because of the crisis, the government has reduced the investment in childhood, especially in education and social protection, limiting the opportunities of the children that are in poverty situation and increasing the possibility that their poverty becomes chronic.

The situation, in which children and their families are, is becoming unsustainable because they haven’t incomes or basic helps to go ahead. To help to overcome this situation, Obra Social “la Caixa” created the program Caixa Proinfancia. This program has the collaboration of more than 30 social entities from the 10 main Spanish cities and their metropolitan areas and which in turn, coordinate more than 300 organizations working in network around Spain.

At the end of July, the first club of private sales Dreivip, integrated the Worldcoo’s solidary widget. Since then, Dreivip has offer to its customers the possibility to help fund the project that had the aim to fight against child poverty.

During these months Dreivip customers have been making donations in their purchases. Today we are very happy to announce that thanks to the solidarity of Dreivip customers, Obra Social may help to break the poverty cycle of 10 children. With 3.500€ donated by Dreivip customers a daily breakfast and a weekly educative session for 10 kids during 6 months.


With this project we already have 43 funded projects!

Children’s vaccination

Every year in the world 6,5 million of children under 5 years die because of diseases that, with appropriate vaccination, could be avoided. Vaccination is one of the best solutions so that children can have a healthy life from the beginning.

Gavi (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation) is an international organization that was created in 2.000 to improve access to new vaccines for children living in the world’s poorest countries. Gavi was the first public-private global partnership fighting against infant mortality by promoting vaccination. According to Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (founding members of Gavi) in the last 15 years deaths in developing countries have been reduced.

La Obra Social “la Caixa” and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have joined to finance the necessary vaccines to protect children from the 70 poorest countries in the world. In addition, for every donation, Obra Social multiplied by four this value, therefore, the efforts against child mortality will quadruple.

PromoFarma wants to join the cause and, together with Obra Social “la Caixa” and Gavi, will give access to vaccines to children living in developing countries in order to help that child mortality in these countries continue to decline.

With the help of Promofarma customers, Gavi and Obra Social “la Caixa” may introduce and give an equitable coverage of vaccines in developing countries and they will provide to the population living in these countries easy access to the vaccines. With their help it may also adapt the markets to the vaccines and other products related to immunization.

As we said previously, Obra Social will multiply by four each donation of Promofarma customers. Considering that each vaccine worth 8€, Promofarma customers will donate 3.500€ and Obra Social “la Caixa” will quadruple this amount, 1.750 vaccines will be provided to children living in developing countries.

Thanks to children’s vaccination the children living in developing countries mortality rate will be reduced and, at the same time, we will help to improve the health of the population of those countries.

The first private online club, Dreivip, offers exclusive promotions of the best brands for its members with discounts between 20% and 30% regarding with the prices of the shop. In the past financial year, Dreivip close its sales with 13 million euros, 14% more than the previous year.

Dreivip continues looking for new to develop social work and, for that reason, it has decided to introduce the solidary widget in its web in order to offer to its customers the possibility of helping fund projects with high social or environmental impact.

The first project that Dreivip collaborate with has the aim to break the cycle of poverty, to guarantee that children in vulnerability situation would have the same possibilities that children that aren’t in that situation.

Unfortunately, the level of child poverty hasn’t gone down and, nowadays, 1 in 4 children live in a vulnerability situation. These children and their families haven’t incomes or basic aids that can help them to go ahead, and their situation is becoming untenable.

In order to help in this situation, Obra Social “la Caixa” created the program CaixaProinfancia. This program has the support of more than 30 social entities of the 10 principal cities OF Spain that take on responsibility of the direct attention to the families who are in vulnerability situation.

With this project, Dreivip customers will be able to help to give support to these children and their families, promoting the children at risk of poverty social and educational development from an approach of integral attention.

With the money raised, 10 kids will have a daily breakfast and a weekly educative session during 6 months. Obra Social “la Caixa” wants that these children living in a situation of vulnerability only think about being kids, not about the problems that their families have.

Thanks to Dreivip and its customers, the families of the 10 children will also benefit to see that their children have everything they need to study and, thanks to that, in a future their children will be able to go ahead and not living in the situation of poverty that they are being now.

Ulabox has added to their site the solidary widget that offer to their users the possibility to add 1€ to their purchase to help fund the project chosen by them. The money raised is going to give to the social projects promoted for Obra Social “la Caixa”.

#NingúnNiñoSinBigote has the aim to ensure that the children in need can drink enough milk to cover their aid needs and all of them will have a good feeding.

Nowadays, thousands of families have limited access to milk. In Spain, more than 300.000 children can’t meet their needs of milk, and it especially affects their mental and physical development because they don’t consume sufficient calcium, vitamins, protein and phosphorus.

Obra Social “la Caixa” collaborates with Banco de Alimentos to gather a great quantity of milk and then will donate entirely to help families in need and ensure the good children growth.


Ulabox is the first 100% online supermarket, and now their users will be able to donate 1€ in every purchase for this project. With their help, Banco de Alimentos will distribute milk to 120 children who are at risk of exclusion and their families.

Obra Social “la Caixa” support different programs and initiatives with the aim to help persons and build a society with more opportunities. For these reason, “la Caixa” will donate an extra milk liter every 10 liters collected up to 100.000 liters of milk.
