logo_downmadridNow, they start a new charity challenge and they collaborate with  Down Syndrome Foundation in Madrid, entity that facilitates the integration of people with Down Syndrome in the family, school, work and social environment with the aim of improving their life quality.

Due to their anatomical and physiological characteristics, children with Down syndrome are more susceptible to suffering from certain types of respiratory and digestive pathologies, which often result in hospital admission with all the complications that this entails.

The goal is to raise the necessary amount so that children with Down Syndrome can access to 100 grants that allow the respiratory and digestive treatments to improve their life quality.

The Social Round Up presentation

capcelera

Yesterday afternoon, we celebrate the presentation of the Social Round Up, our new fundraising mechanism that has already helped us to collect more than 900,000 donations thanks to the 500 commercial establishments who already offer their customers the option to round up their ticket for charity.

During the event, that brought together more than 150 people, we listened the experience of some of the companies that have already implemented this new channel, such as Condis, Viena or the Bon Preu Group, as well as the beneficiary entities of the new channel, such as “Arrels“, Educo, Pasqual Maragall Foundation and “Casal dels Infants“.

2

Although each of them explained their own experience from the business and social point of view; all of them highlighted the good reception of Solidarity Rounding by the clients. In fact, the first surveys conducted show that 83% of people who donated would do it again. Proof of this is that since last year, more than €300,000 have been collected so far.

In addition, Alfred Vernis, Director of Sustainability of Intitex and ESADE professor, explained the importance of social actions and the relationship of companies with social entities, and Elisabet Carnicé, journalist and presenter, made that the event conduction was a success.

All this happened in the “Antiga Fàbrica d’Estrella Damm“, the support of Diari Ara and Corresponsables.

What is a rare disease?

A disease is considered rare when it affects a limited number of the total population, defined in Europe as less than 1 per 2,000 citizens. It is estimated that, between 6 and 8% of the world population, more or less, has an ER. That is, more than 3 million Spaniards, 30 million Europeans, 25 million Americans and 42 million in Latin America.

About FEDER

logo_FEDERFEDER works for a world in which people with a rare disease have the same opportunities in life as the rest of society, regardless of the rarity of their disease.

Their main reason for being are families with a rare disease, they accompany them in their day to day to help them in their needs, in the search for a diagnosis, to find a second medical opinion of experts in their pathology, in psychological support to the family, in legal advice and they put in contact the different people affected, and try to make them aware of their illness.

The first cause:  Education support for children in vulnerable situations

logo_casalDid you know that in Catalonia the 14% of students don’t have the high school education? Inequality presents a clear territorial dimension and punishes especially some neighborhoods and municipalities in the country, where many families suffer social and economic precariousness. The local entity Casal dels Infants has been working for 35 years with the aim of preventing school failure of more than 2,000 young people at risk of exclusion in Catalonia.

Through the amount collected, the entity will be able to offer support and school reinforcement to those young people from the neighborhoods of Catalonia who concentrate inequality situations and thus promote equal opportunities.

Sanchez Romero offers the “Social Round Up” at their establishments!

The revolution of the “Supermarkets with a cause” has just started. Each time, there are more and more supermarkets that offer their customers the possibility of rounding up the final amount of their purchase anddonate the cents to contribute with a social cause.

Most of time, for us, three cents don’t mean anything; but the sum of these few cents can help change the lives of thousands of people.

Round_up_Worldcoo

logosrThe last company to offer this option is Sanchez Romero, a gourmet supermarket that has ten physical stores and an online store located in Madrid.

Under the “Sanchez Romero Solidario” campaign, the brand offers its clients the possibility of collaborating with different social causes with a direct impact on the Community of Madrid.

Specifically, the clients of Sanchez Romero will collaborate so that the entity has the necessary economic resources to develop a new treatment that improves the survival rate of breast cancer, the most frequent tumor among women.

Condis Supermarkets joins our Social Round Up system!

logo-condisSome days ago, we announced that Covirán started to offer their customers the possibility to round up their final ticket and donate the cents to UNICEF Spanish Committee.  Today, we’re happy to share with you that Condis Supermarket have also integrated the Social Round Up to their establishments.

From now on, all the customers of Condis who buy in Catalunya and Madrid will have the opportunity to collaborate with Arrels Foundation or Educo.

How to collaborate?

If you intend to pay by card, the cashier will ask if you want to round the final amount of the purchase and donate the cents to a social cause. If yes, you only have to confirm the action and the round price will be applied. Otherwise, the usual purchase process will be followed. Thus, for example, if the purchase amounts to € 42.70, it will be proposed to pay € 43.

The first project: double collaboration

Logo_Arrels_negreThe clients of the establishments located in Catalonia, will be able to round off the final amount of their purchase and donate the cents to help Arrels Fundació to provide a decent accommodation for homeless people in Barcelona. The entity accompanies these people on their way to autonomy, offering accommodation, food and social and health care.

LOGO-EDUCO-CHILDFUNDThose who do so in centers in Madrid, will collaborate with Educo to offer lunch scholarships to children at risk of poverty and social exclusion. Thanks to this help, it is ensured that the children can access the school canteen and have at least one balanced and complete meal a day.

The customers can follow the donation process or have more information about both projects through THIS LINK.

Coviran Supermarket launches our Social Round Up

50 Coviran Supermarkets offer their customers the option to round up their ticket and donate their cents to a social cause.

As many of you know, last spring Coviran Supermarkets, launched the Social Round Up in some of their establishments and its reception was more than satisfactory: 46% of customers who paid by card rounded up their purchase.

Starting today, 50 more Covirán centers join the Social Round Up campaign and all their customers who pay with credit card, will have the opportunity to round up their ticket and donate their cents to a social cause.   Round_up_Worldcoo

 The project: #OneNameOneLife

UNICEFThe total amount collected by the customers of Covirán will go directly to “#UnNOmbreUnaVida” (“#OneNameOneLife”), an iniciative presented this week by UNICEF Spanish Comittee with the aim of increasing the survival rated of babies under one month.

Did you know that about 7,000 newborns die every day, many of them without ever having a name?

The reason is because, in some countries of the world, where life expectancy is very low, there are parents who don’t name their babies because they think it will be easier to forget them if they do not survive. The first month of life is the most crucial for children’s survival, but every year 2.5 million babies die before completing it.

If urgent measures are not taken, approximately 28 million newborns will die by 2030, most of them due to premature births, complications during childbirth or infections such as sepsis, pneumonia or meningitis.

80% of these newborns – 5,600 babies every day – can be saved thanks to simple and low-cost solutions such as a vaccine, a mosquito net, a thermal blanket or an antibiotic. Therefore, UNICEF Spanish Committee launches the campaign for the survival of newborns #UnNombreUnaVida, whose goal is that all babies have a name and a life to live and enjoy.

CARTELL

Through the Solidarity Roundup, Covirán customers will have the opportunity to collaborate to make it happen.

  • With only 50 cents, the entity will be able to vaccinate 1 child against polio.
  • With € 1, 5 children can be vaccinated against tuberculosis.

If you want, you can get the status of live collection or get more information about the campaign in THIS LINK.

Establishment with cause

alimentació_anglesThrough this new agreement, Covirán incorporates the stamp of “Establishment with cause” in its more than 50 supermarkets, a distinction we give to those companies that bet on new models of solidarity collection and that, through small donations, manage to help large causes.
