One year ago, the European Commission accredited Worldcoo technology as the European standard in eCommerce fundraising.

H2020-Web

Horizon 2020 is the biggest European Commission Research and Innovation program ever. It contributes to addressing key social challenges, promoting industrial leaderships in Europe and strengthening excellence in science. Among nearly 1.000 companies candidates to being part of this program, our innovative Project WIDGET 3.0 made that we were one of the 9 Spanish companies selected and since there… we have worked so much! :)

Logo_widget_3.0Over the past 12 months, we have worked on developing new and better online applications that will allow us to respond to many more social causes. Today we explain you some of them!

  • We have everything prepared to implement a new functionality that will make that many companies collect funds for the same cause and at the same time. This is what we called “public campaigns”. Thanks of that, we will be able to give a much faster and effective response to the different humanitarian emergencies and natural catastrophes that may occur. But in addition, it will allow smaller e-commerce to start collaborating with us.
  • We have developed a new module which facilitates the integration of the new widget 3.0 to those companies that work with online platforms such as MAGENTO or PRESTASHOP, which is a very good news!
  • In the coming weeks, we will incorporate a new module that will offer to each user the opportunity to collaborate with a social project based on their profile and motivations. We get it thanks to techniques of artificial intelligence, which are based on the product and price of what the user searches online. This will allow us to have a higher conversion rate. This is called “machine learning”.
  • During all this time, we have improved our internal management platform to expand and improve our recruitment channels with a much more personalized response to all companies that collaborate with us.
  • And last but not least, during this last months we have laid the groundwork for launching a new revolutionary financing channel that will come this 2017. It is a new channel that will allow donations in the physical stores directly. When a customer pay with his credit card, he will be able to add a euro to his purchase or round the final amount of his purchase. Undoubtedly, this is the biggest novelty that we will present and that, for sure, it is going to have a lot of impact.

All this new functionalities will allow us to become a world reference and, most important, to achieve our goal for 2017: to triple the number of donations received.  We will keep you informed about more news!

Web Summit Lisbon starts this week

logo_websummitThis week we travel to Lisbon to attend the Europe’s largest technology meeting point, Web Summit Lisbon 2016. During these next 4 days, we will share our vision of how innovation can help us to become the main online tool for funding social and cooperation projects among the world’s leading technology companies, like Google, Facebook, Dropbox or Amazon. Also, how technology can be the perfect tool to make a good for the world.

Moreover, in this edition, 20 Spanish startups will be there too. In total, more than 50.000 attendants from 165 different countries. The most promising startups of the moment (Spotify, Uber, Stripe, etc.), great investors and world-renowned speakers will also attend the event, which will attract worldwide media coverage.

Web Summit is a key event to the tech industry development and we don’t want to miss the opportunity to be there and take a step further in the Worldcoo internationalization, one of our main objectives.

Crowdfunding reaches the sun

As Forbes published in this article, “the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission could finalize regulations this year to implement the JOBS Act, the 2012 law that lets startups raise funds directly from mom-and-pop investors”.

There is one startup, called Mosaic, who has already started to make it possible. “The two-year-old Oakland, Calif. firm won approval in California and New York to allow individuals to invest directly via its website. The twist is that the investments are loans, not equity, and the money goes (for now) only to new solar power developments”. They use crowdfunding to let ordinary investors own a piece of the sun.

“One of the fastest ways to build the clean energy economy is to allow more people to benefit from it,” says Billy Parish, Mosaic’s 31-year-old cofounder and president.

Anthony Kim, a solar analyst with research firm Bloomberg New Energy Finance, questions whether Mosaic can attract a big enough pipeline of investors to fund large solar projects. “For now, I think it’s a relatively niche product,” he says.

The startup hopes to build on its current 7,000 potential investors via social media referrals and by targeting foundations, financial advisors and corporations.

Worldcoo was part of the TechCrunch Barcelona Meetup

Last Thursday 13th of December, Worldcoo went to the “City’s Hottest Startups Competition”, at the TechCrunch Barcelona Meetup.

TechCrunch is one of the most influential web publication about technology news and analysis, as well as profiles of startup companies, products and websites. It was founded by Michael Arrington in 2005, and nowadays it has more than 2,5 million of Twitter followers in all over the world.

Being part of its Meetup is an honour for any startup. In this case, Worldcoo not only went there, but it was one of the 15 pre-selected startups for being evaluated in a session involving investors. After this evaluation, the finalists did an open pitching competition. We weren’t finalists, but we could explain our project in front of more or less 200 people.

Worldcoo feels proud of being part of this meeting, full of interesting people and startups.
