CSR in e-commerce: 4 small actions which can produce big results

The fact that Social Corporate Responsibility is taking centre stage in companies is a reality that digital businesses, and of course, e-commerce businesses cannot escape. To be aware that companies operate in a society and a surrounding which they need to take care of is key to carry out whichever activity.

Sometimes, however, CSR can be seen from certain businesses as something which is not achievable for everybody, and that it is something which implies big investment of time and capital. And what if, in reality it is simpler than what we believe it is?

Here are 4 ideas of CSR actions you can take, which without needing a great investment, can produce big results for the business and the society in which it operates:

  1. Honesty, transparency, and confidence when dealing with a client.

What defines a business is the way it connects and interacts with its clients. In e-commerce, also, generating confidence between the organisation and client is essential to overcoming the barriers which can sometimes come about with online shopping.

Basing this relationship on values such as honesty, transparency and confidence is the first step to make the business a socially responsible organisation, and also, the business will earn more!

  1. Non-discriminatory policies when employing people.

In a society which does not discriminate, businesses should support the non-discrimination. To not refuse entry of a talent into a business for discriminatory motives will not only nurture the business with better professionals, but it will also provide the atmosphere of the business with a more open and just way of thinking.

  1. Involvement in social projects.

There are many ways for a businesses to play a simple part in social projects. The widget developed by Worldcoo, for example, allows e-commerce clients to donate a small amount of money to a particular project. Simple, transparent and socially responsible.

  1. To take responsibility for faulty products.

In e-commerce it is essential, as we have already said, to rely on the client’s confidence. To give the appropriate response to potential errors when providing a service or when selling a faulty product is not only a socially responsible action to take, but it also ensures the best possible offer for the customer and, therefore, a higher level of satisfaction and a bigger success in the businesses’ results

School Lunchroom 2014-2015 final report

At the beginning of September 2014, the e-commerce Redcoon became a new sponsor of Worldcoo. It meant that, since then, their customers had the possibility to donate 1€ in every purchase that they made to help fund a high social impact project.

The first project with which Redcoon began to collaborate was the School Lunchroom Program of Educo. Two months after the project started, Redcoon decided to enlarge the term to continue to get fund for the cause of School Lunchroom of Educo. From there, the alliance between Redcoon and Educo grew stronger and they decided to make a new project in every season in the year with the aim that the Spanish children could have a school lunchroom all the year. One year after, Redcoon and Educo have served their purpose. They haven’t stopped distribute School Lunchroom to Spanish children.

One of the commitments of Worldcoo is to support transparency of the donations, for this reason, today we show you an annual report where you can see in which things Educo has distributed every donated euro by Redcoon customers.

The projects that have been funded this year by Redcoon customers are the following:

  • School Lunchroom Program: 4.510€
  • This Christmas, School lunchroom program: 6.000€
  • Spring – School lunchroom program: 8.040€
  • Summer Lunchroom program: 6.000€

Our policy of transparency

In this article we want to explain you how Worldcoo aims to make your charity experience something awesome.

The way we want to boost is : transparency. Because we think that the fact to follow where your money goes makes you even more happy to donate. Moreover, you are the witness of your actions. We want to engage you in the project further than the donation, plus being able to share the real change you made possible.

To end this transparency aspect, we will simply keep you tuned about the construction of the project. Indeed, when a project is “Funded”, it pass automaticly to “In construction”. Then, when the project is achived, you can see it as a “Success story”. The follow up starts with the begining of the crowdfunding campaing and ends when the project is a success story. We illustrate all the process by blog articles with stories, pictures, and videos.

So, when you donated for a project, make sure to have a look to see how it is going 😉
