Nicequest and polio eradicating

capcelera_nq_eng

In their last challenge, Nicequest users had shown their solidarity to prevent malnutrition in Lake Chad, where the conflict that began more than seven years ago is now affecting more than 6 million people.  With their help, Oxfam Intermón will be able to distribute hygienic kits and water to hundreds of families (you can remember the project HERE).

Now, its new goal is to contribute to the eradication of polio in Nigeria, where new cases of this disease have recently been detected, especially in areas affected by wars and violence.

They will do it in the hand of Unicef, who with their help will be able to vaccinate 8,000 children and put an end to this highly contagious disease, which attacks the nervous system and prevents normal development, especially for children under 5 years.

For the education of 140 girls

#NewProject

because-im-a-girlOctober 11 is the International Day of the Girl Child; in this context, Nicequest users join the global campaign “Because I am a Girl”, initiative that Plan International launches with the aim of achieve equality for girls and their empowerment through their right to education.

In South Sudan, only a small part of primary school children attend school, and in the case of girls, the number is further reduced by the fact that is traditionally conceived that girls have to marry and have children at an earlier age, so the education is not the priority.

logo_planThis situation is what has led to Plan International to develop an Accelerated Learning Program at private government schools to promote access to schooling for teenagers with kids and girls who are between 12 and 18 years old. That program is aimed to promote education and facilitate the retention of girls in this courses through different initiatives, such as the distribution of hygiene kits among attendees or caring for children in a nursery near the school.

Through the participation of the users of Nicequest, we will be able to help 140 girls to have access to alternative quality education in a safe and socially cohesive environment.

In his last project, the users of MeQuedoUno collected more than 3.000€ in order to help Intermon Oxfam to distribute cereals, legumes, salt and oil to 200 families in South Sudan, where OCHA estimates that up to 7 million South Sudanese people are at risk of severe food insecurity. You can remember the project HERE.

With his new challenge, they will help SOS Children, an international organisation, to help children, founded in 1949 in Imst (Austria), with presence in 134 countries.

Because of the economic and social situation experienced by Spain during the last years, many families have been seriously harmed, negatively affecting all members of it, especially the youngest ones.

In the 15 day care centers of SOS Children’s Villages in Spain, a snack is offered every evening to children in order to guarantee quality food while also working hygiene and health issues.

Thanks to the collaboration of MeQuedoUno, 90 children will receive a daily snack in SOS Children’s Villages day care centers during school year.
