The reality we find is that women are exposed to a double vulnerability: that of being in a homeless situation, and that of being exposed to the physical and emotional violence suffered in the street. The Hatento Observatory, of which ASSÍS is a part, reports that 19% of homeless women have suffered sexual assault and 60% hate crimes.

ASSIS currently serves 1,700 homeless people a year. 14% of them are women who, mostly, sleep on the street, in mixed night shelters or in rented rooms. Hostels and other temporary accommodation resources are a safe alternative to sleeping on the street. However, in order to deal effectively with homelessness, it is necessary to act from a more stable accommodation resource. From this, the person has the potential to initiate processes of change and / or personal improvement. Therefore, ASSÍS Center d’Acollida starts the construction of a collective housing building protected for homeless women. An indispensable action to offer medium, long-term accommodation to women victims of violence, in situations of vulnerability and homelessness.

  • Provide a home to homeless women.
  • Accompany them in their process of socio-labor inclusion.
  • Offer psycho-social attention to women.
