Description

Each year, 1,400 new cases of childhood cancer are diagnosed in Spain. Physical exercise has become a fundamental non-pharmacological tool during treatment and in the subsequent phases of maintenance and follow-up. It increases the muscular strength of children, decreases systemic inflammatory levels and improves immune function, reducing fatigue.

For this reason, Fundación Aladina has developed the Aladina Sport Scholarship for children with cancer and caregivers. Through these scholarships they pay specialized therapies of physical exercise for children and adolescents suffering from cancer. The therapies are provided in a specialized center by the doctor in Physical Activity and Health, Elena Santana.
