Description
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) launches an appeal to support survivors of severe bombing in Ukraine.
It is disheartening to realize that after eight years of conflict in Ukraine, people are now facing more violence, more pain, more loss and more turmoil. Fear, freezing temperatures and an uncertain future are what families in Ukraine have to face.
The National Societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent are united in an emergency appeal for fundraising, which will make it possible to meet the real needs on the ground.
Basic needs such as potable water, sanitation, health, food and shelter are being ensured, to the extent that security conditions allow.
Activities
Supports with first aid, food, shelter
Supply of drinking water
Transport and distribute essentials, including warm clothes and blankets
Who will benefit?
In Ukraine and neighboring countries, Red Cross and Red Crescent teams have already supported more than 3 million people with first aid, food, shelter, provision of clean water, transport and essentials, including warm clothes and blankets.
In Portugal, the Red Cross already supports more than 1000 people from conflict zones in Ukraine.
Volunteers and employees of the Portuguese Red Cross are strengthening field responses and cooperating with local authorities in the management of reception centers with shelter, clothing, water, food and hygiene items for adults and babies. CVP volunteers are also providing first aid, psychosocial support, providing information on social services and working on the Family Ties Restoration Program.
Project objectives
Support the population affected by the conflict in Ukraine there and in neighboring countries and, in the short, medium and long term, support them in Portugal through their reception (accommodation, food, health, integration, …)
