Animal Equality is an international organization working with society, governments and companies to end cruelty to farmed animals. Their vision is a world in which all animals are respected and protected. Through investigations, corporate outreach, legal advocacy and education, Animal Equality aims at sparing the most amount of animal suffering.
Factory farming is the main cause of animal suffering and abuse. Cruel practices such as painful mutilations are common in the farm industry. In the case of cows, farmers cut out or burn their horns, brand them by fire hot irons, and castrate males calves typically without any anesthesia. Pigs spend much of their life confined in cages so small they can’t even turn around. Chickens are bred to grow so large so quickly that their legs and organs cannot keep up, making heart attacks, organ failure, and crippling leg deformities common.
- Undercover research: Do undercover research in farms in order to see the real treatment that they have with animals. Thanks to these investigations, the existing animal cruelty in some farms will be detected and actions will be taken against it.
- Education: Bring awareness to people on the reality that farmed animals face on a daily basis.
- Corporate Outreach: Through the corporate outreach department, Animal Equality works with corporations to implement more compassionate animal protection policies. These policies help achieve meaningful advances in animal care.
