Malnutrition is one of the leading causes of infant death in children under five. And in countries such as Chad, Central African Republic, Ethiopia and South Sudan, it is particularly difficult to ensure that refugees fleeing conflict in their countries have access to nutrient-dense foods and therapeutic nourishment that enable them to survive and live a healthy life in The field to which they arrive.
In addition, since 2014, the food crisis has particularly hit these. Food rations have been reduced by up to 50%, leaving children and adults vulnerable to malnutrition, trying to survive with only 800 calories a day.
All people need a nutritious diet and hydration to be healthy, especially for children in their first months of life, to ensure their proper growth and development
To minimize the effects of nutritional deficiencies and malnutrition, UNHCR has the Food and Nutrition Program to provide quality food to more than 2.5 million refugees in these four African countries.
