The Sangmélima district in Cameroon has about 30.000 inhabitants living in rural areas, mainly in scattered housing with very limited access to health services.

The Recover Foundation works to facilitate access to quality health for all people in Africa by providing access to health care for communities in rural and remote areas.

The project promotes the approach of health to these rural populations, especially so that pregnant women know the importance of a good follow-up of the pregnancy to avoid possible future complications.

  • Prenatal consultation campaigns in the rural areas of the district for pregnant women and newborn infants.
  • Participatory workshops on medication use, institutional delivery, newborn care and sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Free delivery of mosquito nets to women who attend prenatal consultations.
  • Monitoring and control of pregnancy and postpartum at affordable prices.

Who will benefit?

With 3.000€, 100 women will receive medical care during childbirth and a follow up at Obut dispensary, Cameroon.

Project objectives

Improve maternal and child health of women and babies in Sangmélima communities.
