Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international humanitarian medical association recognized as a public utility and Nobel Peace Prize winner in 1999.
Independent of all political, military or religious powers, MSF acts impartially, after assessing the medical needs of the populations. The guarantee of its independence is rooted in its financing, guaranteed 96% by the generosity of its private donors: individuals, foundations and companies.
While MSF is above all a major actor in the humanitarian emergency, it also deploys longer-term programs on targeted issues such as maternal and child health, reconstructive surgery and the management of severe burns, for example .
The medical activities deployed on each field of intervention depend on the evaluation by our teams of the needs of the populations. MSF teams deal with a wide range of diseases (cholera, tuberculosis, measles, etc.), but can also provide material, nutritional and sanitary assistance in response to emergencies: distribution of shelters and first aid supplies, food distribution, or drinking water.
Who will benefit?
MSF France intervenes in thirty countries. The beneficiaries of its interventions are the victims of armed conflicts, epidemics / endemics / pandemics, natural disasters or people who are excluded from all medical care.
Medicine in a precarious context is at the heart of the activity of MSF, who can implement a wide range of care: consultations, hospitalizations, surgeries, nutrition, psychological care, etc.
