Mission: Mediterranean sea


From January 2015 to June 2017, 1,436,810 people have arrived in Europe by sea and 10,522 migrants have drowned in the Mediterranean while attempting to cross into Europe.

In 2017 more than 130,000 people have arrived by sea, and more than 2,400 people died in the pursuit of a better life.

Proactiva Open Arms has two medicalized rescue and surveillance boat to help reduce shipwrecks in the Mediterranean international waters.

Which allow them to rescue more than 33,000 people at sea.


  • Provide immediate health care, with on-board medical staff and a nurse's office.
  • Have a base of rescue operations on the high seas as part of the operation coordinated by the Italian coastguard.

With your help, Proactiva Open Arms would execute 4 sea rescue misions.

Project objectives

To rescue refugees from the sea that arrive in Europe fleeing wars, persecution or poverty.
