Description

The Gabi Project of the CRIS Cancer Foundation treats children with leukaemia and other solid childhood tumours that do not respond to conventional treatments (chemo-radio) or who have relapsed.

The combination of Natural Killer (NK) cells and memory T cells is an absolutely novel treatment in Spain and very promising in the cure against cancer.

In this way, an extraordinary help is provided to the patient's immune system, which has exceptional reinforcements to fight against the tumour and gives the possibility of controlling the disease and increasing the waiting time of the patients for a bone marrow transplant or further treatment.

Activities

The treatment involves transferring large amounts of Natural Killer (NK) cells and memory T cells to patients, which are cells of the immune system that are specialized in destroying dangerous cells, such as tumour cells.

Who will benefit?

With € 5,000, the treatment of NK and T cells will be made to a minor affected by cancer to increase their healing options.

Project objectives

Improve therapies and reduce the side effects that conventional treatments entail, sometimes with sequelae for life.
