Protect Africa from COVID19UGANDA - Mozambique
COVID-19 now promises to bring untold suffering to the poorest, most fragile communities in the world. For those living in extreme poverty, in urban slums, refugee camps, and those communities affected by war or previous humanitarian disasters, this is just the beginning. They are unprepared for what is coming and unable to respond to the carnage that will be left behind.

Handwashing is a luxury available only to those who have access to water. Social distancing is not possible for most refugees living in overcrowded settlements. And lockdown is not an option for families who live hand to mouth, and must leave the house daily for work, for food.
Street Child is working to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in those areas with more vulnerable citizens, by promoting handwashing and social distancing, in communities where these options are available. Where they are not, by emphasising measures that could slow transmission, such as the use of hand sanitiser, reduction in bodily contact and self-isolation of those with symptoms.
- Distribute protective material to personnel to prevent the spread of the virus.
- Distribute hand washing stations in areas with little access to sanitation facilities, to alleviate and reduce the rate of contagion in the early stages of the spread of COVID-19.
Raise community awareness and provide material to curb the spread of the virus in Mozambique and Uganda.
