The state of Oaxaca is one of the poorest states in Mexico. It ranks second in the country with the highest nutritional risk at the national level, and it is the state of Mexico with the most deaths due to malnutrition, with 19.7% per 100,000 inhabitants.

Poverty affects the indigenous population (73.2%) and minors (53.9%) and leads to poor nutrition, causing the existence of undernourished children with teeth stings, poor school performance and difficult physical and mental development of infants.

For this reason, Ayuda en Acción is present in one of the most affected regions: Sierra Sur, to face this situation while ensuring dietary diversity and treatment for cases of malnutrition of minors.

  • Identify and care for children from 3 to 11 years old with malnutrition through healthy menus.
  • Recover food diversity through the production of vegetables and animal protein under agroecological production systems.
  • Hold sessions with the community about preventive and nutritional health education in families.
