Description

India is the country most affected by leprosy with 60% of global cases. It is estimated that in the country there are more than two million people with disabilities due to leprosy.

The trauma of leprosy in children is enormous. Stigma and deformity cause depression in children who suffer from it, and subject them to daily discrimination by members of the family and society in general, condemning them to exclusion and poverty.

The Fontilles project aims at the physical rehabilitation of children and young people affected by this disease who suffer from eye, foot or hand disabilities and who may benefit from orthopedic surgery services at Saint Joseph Hospital in Sanawad.
