Description

Malnutrition and food insecurity are some of the issues affecting refugees and one of the most urgent to address. About a third of deaths in children are believed to be due to undernutrition, and more than 12,340 children die of hunger every day, 4.5 million a year.

For this reason we work with UNHCR to develop the project Hungry for help in Africa, that consits in increasing food rations of refugee families and to identifying and treating malnutrition in children under 5 through performing medical examinations and providing therapeutic feeding to babies and children.
This project will help to avoid some of the consequences of malnutrition and food insecurity, as the risk to suffer higher rates of disease and infant mortality, more likely to suffer physical and / or mental, increased dropout rates especially among girls, among other consequences.

Activités

Provide therapeutic feeding as breast milk and infant formula for 66 infants under six months of age with varying degrees of severe malnutrition.

Qui en bénéficiera ?

Thanks to the solidarity of Mequedouno users, 66 babies and children will receive during a month a therapeutic diet to combat severe malnutrition.
