Benin is a West African country with more than 10 million inhabitants, in which 55% of the population lives in rural areas with little access to basic services such as health, water and sanitation, energy, etc. The NGO Anesvad collaborates with the Saint Camille Health Center in Benin, fighting against leprosy.
Leprosy is a disfiguring and debilitating chronic infectious disease. If left untreated, it can cause progressive and permanent skin, nerve, limb and eye injuries, leading to disability. If it is treated in the early stages, these consequences can be avoided.
In addition, leprosy produces a social rejection that is sometimes harder than physical disability. But most importantly, leprosy is curable with a multidrug therapy. At the Saint Camille Health Center people are treated and cured of leprosy.
- Provision of sanitary material (bandages, gloves, disinfection material, etc.) for curing leprosy.
Chi ne trarrà beneficio?
With your help, 80 kits of sanitary material will be provided for people affected by leprosy, with special attention to children.
