Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. MSF offer assistance to people based on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. His independent and impartial presence in crises allows him to give immediate assistance to the most needy. Medical action is the priority of MSF, but the organization also uses testimony as a means to cause changes in favor of the populations it attends.

Doctors Without Borders is prepared to respond to acute crises (conflicts, outbreaks and nutritional crises) and to the needs of victims of cystic conflicts, wherever they occur. To react to humanitarian crises, MSF has developed an operating model that guarantees intervention within the first 72 hours since the alert occurred.

The immediate response in emergencies is possible thanks to the Emergency Fund: an allocation reserved in the general budget of the organization to cover the expenses of those emergency situations that explode throughout the year and that require a quick and immediate action. This Fund allows for the ability to react without having to wait for additional funds to arrive, which in these borderline situations becomes a fundamental vital impact to save lives in the moment of maximum vulnerability.

  • Serve victims of conflicts, natural disasters, epidemics and nutritional crises wherever they occur in the shortest possible time.
  • Deploy equipment formed by doctors, nurses, midwives and logisticians in the most affected areas to organize primary care centers, stabilization centers for the injured and seriously ill, transfers to other specialized medical structures, and to build networks for the provision of drinking water and distribution of essential kits.

Who will benefit?

More than 20,000 people living in the epicenter of the emergency.

Project objectives

Having the necessary response capacity to be able to attend to the people who suffer most where they are in the shortest possible time, in order to guarantee their survival.
