Description
Currently, childhood is the most affected group by the consequences of the economic crisis and cuts in social benefits.
Save the Children focuses its work on combating child poverty, with special emphasis on children suffering the greatest hardships. To ensure real and sustainable changes in their lives, the organization aims to break the transmission cycle of poverty through education.
This project is focused on providing educational support for the prevention of school failure. Along with collaborating centers, Save the Children works to reduce truancy and improve school performance of those students with economic and social difficulties.
The project is developed in 53 centers throughout Spain, located in Andalusia, Madrid, Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha, Valencia and the Basque Country.
Activities
- Providing an adequate space to study and do homework
- Introducing different study techniques
- Solving the doubts of the students
- Providing support and consultation material (books, internet access, etc.)
Who will benefit?
With 5.000 €, 50 children will have access to school support classes during the school year.
Project objectives
To improve school performance of children who suffer socio-economic difficulties.
To reduce truancy.
To reduce early education abandonment.
