In countries like Chad or Ethiopia, girls walk up to 6 hours a day to gather water. While travelling for water, apart from having to face many dangers, women cannot farm and girls cannot attend school. This situation only worsens their poverty. Moreover, every year 1.5 million children die due to illnesses associated with poor quality or lack of water.

Guaranteeing access to drinking water is giving families the opportunity to survive and improve their lives. They will be able to invest time in farming more food and will have the chance to generate more income with which to begin to escape poverty. For this reason, if you walk, they will not have to. Your kilometers will change many lives!

  • Guaranteeing access to water apt for consuming in order to avoid the spread of disease.
  • Distributing cash in exchange for work to activate the local market economy.
  • Distributing canvas so that families can construct temporary shelter.

Who will benefit?

With 2.000 € Oxfam will install a water pump in 5 new communities

Project objectives

Guarantee access to potable water for the most vulnerable populations in countries like Chad or Ethiopia.
